Hildegard of Bingen

Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) was a remarkable Benedictine nun born in Germany , a "first" in many fields. At a time when few women wrote, Hildegard, known as "Sybil of the Rhine ", produced major works of theology, illuminated mandala's and visionary writings. When few women were accorded respect, she was consulted by and advised bishops, popes, and kings.

Father Bede Griffiths (died 1993)

Bede Griffiths dedicated his life to the marriage of East and West,' working toward the rebirth of Christian wisdom in the light of the Vedanta: of nonduality or advaita and of the discovery of the inner Self, or atman. He also explored the contemplative practice making of mandalas.
